As you know, one of our trips to the climbing wall at Undercover Rock in Bristol was cancelled due to the snow.
If your child was due to go on that day, I would like to let you know that I have managed to rebook it for Wednesday 11th April, which is in the first week back after Easter. As before, they will need a packed lunch, although we will be arriving back at school at 1:30pm.
If you had volunteered to help on the first trip and would still like to help this time, please do email me and let me know.
Many thanks, and Happy Good Friday,
For those of you who missed this trip due to the school closure, we will re-schedule it after Easter. It takes weeks to organise trips, so I am hoping to re-book it as soon as possible, but we will have to find a new date which is free for both parties involved. I will let you know as soon as I have arranged this. Thank you to the parents who had offered to help – I hope you will be able to make the new date, but I understand if you are unable to. Thank you to you all for your understanding.
For those children who went today, I will upload photos soon. Thank you.
Well, the ‘Beast from the East’ came in force twice this month, depositing inches of snow on both occasions, and what better way to celebrate it than with a trip to the dry-slope at the Mendip Snowsport centre. Unfortunately, the first load of snow had melted by the time we arrived, but we had great fun all the same! The wind was chilly but the skies were blue and the children were wrapped up sufficiently! For most of them, this was a new skill to master, but they picked it up brilliantly. Well done Y5s for your perseverance and positive attitudes – it was great to see you all smiling so much!
This afternoon, we had a visiting speaker from SWGFL (South West Grid for Learning) who came and spoke to use about the electronic games and apps that the children are beginning to use, or have access to at home. It was a great opportunity for the children to learn about some legal requirements surrounding them, such as age restrictions for popular apps, and for them to ask questions about when and when not to give your personal information out on-line. There is a talk tonight in the school hall at 6:30pm for parents and carers, which will go into more detail – it would be great to see you there.
As you have heard via ParentMail, we have another snow day tomorrow! So what fun can you get up to?
- Make a snowman⛄️ (and add glo-sticks for eyes!)
- Make a snow angel
- Wrap up warm and go for a snowy walk
- Ask your parent/carer if you can check in on an elderly neighbour and see if they’re ok
- Find a safe hill to sledge down
If you would like to, you can email me a photo of your snow antics, and I’ll add it to the blog! Have fun Ospreys!
Here is Jasper and his family, finding an alternative way to keep warm in the snow!
We also have Ava, who enjoyed sledging with her family:
Jack and his family went out with their sledges too. He also kindly helped his mum to take their 87-year-old neighbour’s dogs, Coco and Darcy, out for their daily walks over the weekend. Well done, Jack!
